The Cooma based Mums and Dads Group, M.A.D was established in 2004 to coordinate and advocate the wide range of needs pregnant and parenting teenagers have. The M.A.D group is committed to assisting pregnant and parenting teenagers and their children to participate in all community activities including education, recreation and health and well being.
M.A.D goes behind the scenes of parenting, the difficulties and adversity that has been overcome to get on the path to becomming a successful parent. These images and interviews talk about aspects of their lives that are not always easy to look at or listen to... Grief, Domestic Violence, Drug Addiction, Post Natal Depression, Mental Illness, HSC, Self Esteem, Peer Pressure, Debt, Abandonment...some of the obstacles this group of young people have tackled.
M.A.D runs for 37 minutes and have been cut together from over 40 hours of interviews with participants from the M.A.D group. Produced in 2008 in partnership with the Southern General Practice Network and the South East Arts Region, funded by the Community Partnership Program from the Australia Council for the Arts.
